Stony
My sleeping hours have been restricted to between 3 and 5 hours for the whole of this week! Surprise. I used to turn in to bed when the clock strikes 11pm or 12am, but because of certain commitments I just have to make do with the adjustments. The previous night was worse, bedroom time was confined to just 3 hours and in a jiffy, at 6 in the morning, I had to rush to Ang Mo Kio Secondary. Yea, for the RCY Current Affairs competition. Made some alterations to the powerpoint slides till 3am or was it 4am? Anyway we lost. I was gunning for at least a consolation prize you see. So, naturally, I am disappointed with the performance. But I guess when it comes to competitions, prominent schools are still the reign. Not implying that neighbourhood schools do not stand a chance to be the kings and queens, but just that elite schools have a far better crop of students.
What was worth the experience was that I got to know of the Hougang Secondary School Youth Officer. The one and only neighbourhood school to make the cut for the finals. I didn't manage to get hold of her name but Stephen said that it was because of the measures she put in place for the school's unit that they rose to among the best units in the districts, or I should say, Singapore. She was easy to talk to and even made a few jokes with us. And one piece of news. She told me personally that she will be joining Serangoon Secondary's pool of teaching staff next year. Teaching Geograhy I think. She's rather eager to find out more about us, as in the school's unit and our school environment. From what I can predict, she should be a rather interesting teacher. So Geography students, do keep an eye out for her because she might be the next big thing in the school.
A very taxing day.
