新年前夕: 团圆饭, Reunion Dinner

Happy Chinese New Year to one and all!
Had a heavy steamboat dinner over at my Aunt's apartment. Ate to my heart's content. Good food don't taste great unless they are accompanied by good company. (: My 14-year-old cousin wolfed down 2 entire plates of abalone by himself since none of us in the house are great fans of the dish. What a glutton. The idiotic part came when he took an extremely big fishball and swallowed it down. You know what happens next when one is a greedy man. Yea, he nearly choked. So I said something like,"I'm glad there's no need for me to put to use my first aid skills." And everyone laughed.

It kind of stunned all of us at the table when we saw that my cousin was trying to regurgitate all the contents he had consumed. Up next was CHEAT. A family affair that is played by 5 of us: my Sis, Bro, 2 cousins and needless to say, myself. My brother keeps cheating but his tactics were so awful that I never failed to catch him. Once I even bragged that my playing style is "clean" and I don't resort to cheating. Haha. Then there was this one time when I decided totry my hand at cheating. Everyone nearly believed the cards I dealt were what I told them. But my Bro looked at me in the eyes and knew I cheated. The thing that did me in? I was trying so hard to suppress that smile! It is funny that everytime I try to cheat, I have that tendency to laugh or have a weird facial expression, making it very easy to detect whether I am cheating my way out.
Anyway, I saw two guys running at breakneck speed as we headed down to the carpark after the dinner. They seemed to be holding something in their hands and I have never seen anyone run that fast in my life. Never. I thought something was amiss and told my parents to stay put to see if there was anyone who needed assistance or was in some kind of danger. They certainly did not look like they were having a night jog given that attire they were in. It looked more like robbery to me. But still, since my parents needed to finish up on their workload we had to leave after seeing that the place was cleared with no suspicious person around. Hope nothing bad happened, really.

Byes.
