Last Day of 2008, バイバイ

Since tis' the season to give and share, I shall let you guys take a peek into one of my all-time favourite pictures. It's a structure... and a massive one. Now, take it away!

So Sis, me and cousin went to catch the show Bedtime Stories at Vivo City on Monday. Interesting film. It is highly recommended for kids between the ages of 0 and 1000. Next we had dinner at Marché, the faux Spanish restaurant The tab's on Sis so we chalked up a bomb for the bill and got Sis fuming at us. Today, my family will be celerating the incoming of Year 2009 coupled with my Dearest Bro's 20th birthday celebration. His birthday falls on 2nd January so our family has this habit of celebrating in advance for him. I think this is good because it is best that we carry on the festive momentum from Christmas, New Year and Bro's birthday all together and make it triple happiness instead of relishing in merry-making a few days later. Makes the happy mood go away and come back. So... intermittent.

I love you 2008! But now's the time to welcome 2009 up the stage. Anyway, I went to the library to get the book How Starbucks Saved My Life(eh, no, I don't like starbucks beverages that much. Don't get me wrong!) by Michael G Gates. Been eyeing this book for quite a long time. Searched high and low, but to no avail despite doing thorough research. Another piece of good news. My C.Shinchan calendar has just been imported from Japan. So a few more hours to go before the Anpanman calendar goes off. In comes Crayon Shinchan.

Cheers to the entry of 2009, family, friends, loved ones, strangers and everyone the world over. 2008 has been a great year, thanks to those whom I hold dear and near. I have nothing but thanks for each of every one of y'all.

Byes. Bye 2008, hello 2009.

The Soya Bean Tale & X'mas Eve

Quirky things have been happening to me of late. Am I the only one feeling this or are the people around me being funny? Read on.

As usual, I went to AJC for elementz today with Kelly and Athirah before going to AMK Hub for lunch. After a hearty meal I decided to get a drink. Inital plan was to go search for a bubble tea stall but there wasn't one around and since I really need something to quench my thirst I decided to settle for some other beverage. Found a Jollibean booth nearby and I thought that if I can't find any bubble tea stall around, I will just go for that. Of course, I was down on my luck in the search. Then I made a turn to head for the Soyabean stall when I actually entered the wrong shop!

"Eh, Miss, can I have a cup of cold Soya Bean drink please?"

"Huh, come again?"

"Soya bean drink," I repeated.

"We don't sell soya bean. We sell fruit juices."

"Oh, that's... cool. Happy Christmas!" (LOL)

I retreated and scanned my surroundings, realising that the JolliBean store was right beside the shop I was in. Anyway, I stepped into a fruit juice shop. Ok, so I did make a mistake and land myself in such an awkward situation. Soya Bean, you are my foe for doing this to me.

On the way back, a lady on the bus seated right next to me shoved a pamphlet into my hand just one stop away from my landing destination. She smiled. We spoke for a little while before I alighted. Just to inform you guys, I have been having encounters with numerous strangers these days. Queer. And going back to the pamphlet, if you read the details inside, you'd understand it's about the origin of Christmas.

Cocktails, CHEAT, Chocolates, Cheers, Cookies, Cake, Carol, Sparklers, all packed into one night today. With all these terrific things occuring all at once, it sure is a Christmas To Remember. Shoutout to all: A Merry, Jolly and Happy X'Mas!

A Little Story Of Mine

Hello, yeah, it's been a while. Not much, how 'bout you?

That's some lines from one of my favourite classic songs. (: Anyway I was having dinner with Aunt today and listening to some songs when something struck me. A really meaningful tale. If you are wondering why in the world am I tuning in to music at the dining table, there's a reason. The food tastes nicer when you plug in to music.

After some time, I felt quite jaded with choosing the library of songs in my MP3. So I thought,"Why not switch it to shuffle mode and let the player decide for me the song?" The first few selections were pleasant to the ears since I really like those but soon after, the songs which I do not quite like started playing. My mood for food went down plunging. That was then I realised, no, I shouldn't allow to player to decide the music on my accord. Instead I should take charge of the whole thing since running on shuffle mode would not necessary play out the songs I crave for. It's no different from leaving things in life, and resigning to fate. So, you must assume the role of Boss over here.

Moral of the story? Don't let your life run on shuffle.

Byes. (I know this is lame)

Enter the Fashionistas' World!

Howdy!

I checked out Sis's workplace yesterday and had lunch with some of her colleagues. The one comment I have reserved for them is that they lead extremely extravagant lives. They splurged up to a few hundreds dollars on cosmetics and skincare products a month. And of course, Sis is one of those who perpetrates in the indulgence of such stuff. Anyway her colleagues and supervisors were entertaining and we bantered for some time before lunch.

If some of you here believe that with money comes great food, I'd say abandon that misconception of yours. We tried out some traditional Japanese gourmet foods. They were not to my tastebuds and the wasabi there is especially worlds apart from the normal wasabi you often encounter. The wasabi sensation lingers in your tongue even after 10 minutes! I swallowed down my meal, for the sake of being polite and also the need to accommodate the rest. There were nothing like sushis and all. I also learnt of many things from them. Here are some of the most important rules fashion consultants must abide by:

Rule #1 : Carry either a designer or branded bag. Sis says it ensures you hold your style out well. Most of them in this line gun for Louis Vuitton's carrier bags. I even saw one of Sis's colleagues carrying a large LV bag. Authentic, of course.

Rule #2: Be true to yourself. You must adopt styles of your own. Never develop a dressing style inspired by a friend or vice versa.

Rule #3: Look brilliant everyday.

Actually, I don't kind of understand why Sis go to the extra mile of spending lots of money to look fabulous in her line of work. I mean, yes, one must look great almost all the time but I'd consider it an addiction to invest most of your money into it. But I think she lives by the motto: Look good while you can and while you are young.

Sis and I then went to catch the show Bolt. Great but incredibly meaningless at the same time. It is one of those shows which you enter, laugh, watch and exit. Enough of all this, lets talk about my trip to Hong Kong. Although I have been there umpteen times, this time around, I did meaningful activities there. How about some voluntary work?

I will do this in a nutshell since I don't enjoy typing lengthy entries. I met numerous nice and friendly people there who gave me real good insights into life and the city of HK. Special thanks to the staff at DHC near Mongkok who is ever so pleasant to me, the HK TV crew who showed me the seriousness of their working attitudes(it's no wonder HK is renowned for their programmes!), a lady on the street who recommended mum to a herbal tea shop when she realised mum's having a bad cough, HK Disneyland, a kind lady who gave me an extra something on seeing I was a teenager(thanks!), and those who helped out "behind the scene".

Not forgetting the airlines crew. There's this Hippopotamus air steward, the bewitching cabin attendant whom I thought resembled the witch from 101 Dalmatians(don't worry, you are nice after all!) and the Japanese passenger beside me for his courtesy and all.

Byes.
